Nearly everything about this release suggests that it is unofficial. First of all, nowhere on the release is Radioactive Records credited or are the members of Live mentioned. The only company listed anywhere on the release is Alpha Music, and online searches for them turn up nothing of any relevance. There is no mention of the country of origin anywhere on the release. The catalog number is 'CDLV-001/03' on both spines and on the disc itself, however the back cover has it written out as 'CDLV 001-03'. A legitimate release would have been a bit more careful. On top of this, the lyric book contains the usual bunch of stock promotional photographs of the band, and the 'The Distance to Here'-era Live logo that is used on the front and back covers looks like the work of someone who just read three pages of the PhotoShop help file. Finally, the very end of 'Century' actually plays the beginning note of 'Ghost', as if the song was ripped directly from 'Secret Samadhi' and nobody bothered to edit it.
About the only thing that gives this release any credibility is the UPC number. I ran a check on the barcode, and it turned up valid. The manufacturer was unknown, and there was no information given about the barcode, except that it wasn't false. However, this does not necessarily mean that the release is official, since it is entirely possible that the bootlegger (if this is a bootleg) simply added that barcode on the back cover from a completely different product in order to make the release appear more official. |

The '2000 Millennium Gift' was given out to attenders of the rescheduled Millennium Show by Live at Hershey Arena in Hershey, PA on February 4th, 2000. They had originally planned to have the Millennium Show on December 31st, 1999 at the same location, but Ed came down with an upper respiratory infection before the show and was ordered by doctors not to sing for 4-6 weeks. The '2000 Millennium Gift' was sort of a consolation gift to ticket holders for having to reschedule.
This CD is limited to 6200 copies.
The word 'millennium' is misspelt 'millenium' on the spine. |
