Massive thanks goes out to Owen Davey for selling me his 'The Death of a Dictionary' cassette.

Public Affection's long out-of-print 'The Death of a Dictionary'. The Holy Grail of Live collecting. The ultimate high point of a Live collector's life. You can die happy if you have this. Public Affection was one of Live's names before they finally changed it to Live. It's the only other name under which they released anything. 'The Death of a Dictionary' was the only release by Public Affection. It was released on August 17th, 1989 on cassette only. This is very important to know. There are tons of bootlegs out there with the songs from this album on them, but that's all they are. Bootlegs. This cassette is the only official thing containing these tracks. The version of 'Good Pain' on here is an earlier working of the song - not the same version which appears on 'Four Songs' and 'Mental Jewelry'.

The cover of this release was made in Canada, but the album was only released in the United States, mainly at Public Affection shows. The number of copies of this cassette in existence is very sketchy. However, I can tell you that the number is significantly low.
